BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — The Benton County Sheriff's Office says a 3-year-old boy has died after he climbed into the trunk of his family's car.

Authorities say the 3-year-old was found dead in the car Saturday night in northeast Benton County.

Fayetteville television station KHOG reports the boy climbed into the trunk and was unable to get out. The sheriff's office says the child died from heat exposure.

Temperatures were above 100 degrees when the boy climbed into the car.

The child's body was sent to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory. The sheriff's office says investigators don't suspect foul play.

Lots of good questions and comments Leatherneck. I agree, the others should be locked up also.

One more thing. How do they know he climbed in the trunk? If they know he climbed in the trunk that means someone else knew he climbed in the trunk in order for them to make this conclusion or is this simply an assumption?

I want to throw some question sout and I KNOW I will get some sort of response. This child got into the trunk of a car and died and no one has been arrested because the police don't suspect foul play. Now the great grand parents left their great grandchild in a car for over 2 hours according to police in a Wal-Mart parking lot and no one has been arrested. A man leaves his child in the car, that he was supposed to take to day care and he gets arrested. Can someone tell me what the difference is in all three of these cases. Did they find something out about the dad that they locked up? All three of these cases should be considered child neglect and abuse and everyone of them should be locked up facing charges or murder, manslaughter, and or child endangerment at the least. All three allowed the death of a child to occur.

Kind of wondering about the circumstances myself; have been since first reading this. Real small car? Very tall 3 year old? Regardless, family needs prayers from us. According to the news last night, the child that died in Newport; his daddy was supposed to drop the child off at day care, but went to work instead, leaving the child in the car. I've never had a job that important.

How did the child close the trunk? I hope the parents or another child didn't have anything to do with this....however, who was watching him? God Bless

Praying that the family will find comfort in our Lord and Savior in the days to come; it surely will be a difficult time for them; keep them in your prayers.
