BENTON, AR – Some municipal water customers are warned to boil their water before drinking it. The order was issued after a drop in system pressure that may have allowed contaminants into the pipes.

Steve Dicicco, Benton Water Department Manager, issued the order for Longhills Village and Garden Hills subdivisions, plus Benton water customers on Highway 5 North between Longhills Road and Salem Road. The order urges affected customers to boil briskly for one minute any water used for human consumption or food preparation. It also reminds customers that ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water should be used to make ice.

The boil order will be lifted by the Department of Health once test samples confirm the water system is free of any contamination and there is adequate disinfectant level throughout the distribution system.
