BRYANT, AR – Police are investigating the death of a person who was hit by a train Monday afternoon in Bryant.

The incident occurred south of town near the Reynolds Road overpass according to police.

Union Pacific spokesperson Raquel Espinosa says the victim was a 17-year-old Bryant High School student who walked in front of the train. The teen was hit at 2:42pm, according to Espinosa.

The train engineer tells police the boy was crouched in the bushes next to the track. As the train approached, he stepped out onto the tracks facing the train.

Espinosa says the teen’s family lives near the tracks and has been notified.

Add your prayers for the train engineers that had to watch as they hit that boy. He may have commited suicide by train but the mental anguish that he caused those two railroaders will never go away.

The teen was a Bryant High School senior. He was set to graduate next May. He wanted to be a lawyer. He was distraught over a recent breakup with a girlfriend. He will be missed and never forgotten. Our hearts are broken for his family and friends.
