Conway Police arrest attempted murder suspect

CONWAY, AR – Officials from the Conway Police Department have arrested a man wanted for attempted murder.

Police say Rodney J. Smith, wanted for attempted capital murder, was arrested Thursday when he showed up in court in Conway on unrelated charges.

Smith had been on the run since October 16th. Detectives say he is the man who allegedly shot Samuel Davis once in the head and again in the leg outside of a mobile home in the Oakwood Village trailer park on Robins Street in Conway. Davis is currently recovering from is injuries.

According to police, after the shooting, Smith left the scene and switched cars. Police got reports of sightings of Smith, but nothing panned out until he showed up in court Thursday.

Smith, who had been considered armed and dangerous, was taken into custody without incident.
