NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - Thursday afternoon's fiery crash on Interstate 40 in North Little Rock that claimed the life of a truck driver may have also damaged part of the interstate.
Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials say the Young Road overpass is closed and its crews will be inspecting the scene after the truck wreckage is removed.
The accident occurred in the westbound lane of Interstate 40 , just east of the Crystal Hill overpass.
AHTD officials say if any damage is found, crews will make the necessary repairs. AHTD hopes to get traffic flowing along Interstate 40 beneath the overpass sometime overnight.
Currently, traffic on Interstate 40 westbound is being detoured at Exit 150 (Burns Park Exit) to Highway 365.
The Young Road overpass was built in 1963. It is 220 feet long and carries about 750 vehicles each day.
Drivers traveling through the area are urged to be extra careful when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.
