LITTLE ROCK, AR – Five people lost their lives in separate accidents this weekend. Two of the fatalities were in Crittenden County.
According to Arkansas State Police reports, 47 year old Pierre McReynolds of Memphis died when the southbound bicycle he was riding on Interstate 55, was hit by a southbound Mack truck at the 3 mile marker in West Memphis. The crash happened just before 6:00am, Sunday.
A separate Crittenden County crash that happened at 2:00am, Sunday morning, claimed the life of 28 year old Calvin Jackson of Earle. State police say the victim was southbound on State Highway 149 in Earle when he lost control, left the road, struck a utility pole and his vehicle overturned.
Just before 5:00am, Sunday morning in Lee County, investigators say a dog in the road caused a fatal one-vehicle crash. 66 year old Glenda Watkins of Brinkley was eastbound on Highway 79 when her car hit a dog, causing her to leave the road and the vehicle to rollover. 71 year old Thomas Wilkins of Brinkly was also hurt but the extent of his injuries is not yet available.
A crash in Benton County around 5:00am, Sunday, claimed the life of 64 year old Robert Davis of Bentonville. State police say the victim was northbound on Highway 71 just north of the 188 exit when he left the road and struck a bridge support.
An accident just after 5:00pm, Saturday, just north of Mountain Home, claimed the life of 51 year old David Shoras of Mountain Home. Investigators say it appears the victim was southbound on State Highway 5 when he left the road, hit a driveway, became airborne, struck a fence, hit a parked fifth wheel, overturned and slammed into a utility pole.
