DARDANELLE, Ark. (AP) — Officials at Mount Nebo State Park are warning visitors to not feed the wildlife now that an Arkansas black bear has taken up residence atop the mountain.

Officials tell The Courier the bear is a 2-year-old male that's been spotted near rental cabins and throughout the park. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has placed a trap to capture the bear, but so far the creature has eluded them.

Park facility manager Holly Moore says there's been no conflict between the bear and park visitors — but that people need to be careful because the bear is still dangerous.

Park officials believe the bear is avoiding the trap because it already has an ample food source. People are asked to not feed the bear and dispose of trash properly.

A little bear bacon would go good for breakfast or in a pot of beans.
