IMBODEN, AR – A man facing bank robbery charges is now expected to also face charges of escape after a brief period of freedom Saturday. It all began just before 11:00am, as the inmate was being moved from a cell for visitation.

Authorities tell us Randall Morris of Ravenden, ran out a back door at the Lawrence County Jail then stole a truck from the nearby neighborhood. An alert Walnut Ridge police officer heard radio traffic about the escape, spotted the fleeing fugitive and began pursuit. The chase soon involved other local, county and state law enforcement. The chase reportedly reached speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour as it continued along Highway 412, passing through Portia, Black Rock and Imboden. Several vehicles were forced off the road but there are no reports of any inuries.

Morris lost control of the yellow truck he was in and slammed into a tree just north of Imboden, where he was taken into custody. According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy, Randall Morris was in jail on bank robbery charges stemming from a hold-up back in July of this year in Imboden.

I'm surprised that noone has commented he was already an inmate and escaped. The report reads that he was moved from his cell to a visitation which is where he ran out the back door. My question is this, how the hell did he get out the back door with a guard by his side? When an inmate is taken from his cell to the visitation room, he is to be escorted by a guard. Since when do they allow inmates to accompany themselves? I mean yes our legal system is a joke, but come on CO's, get off your a** and do your job. These escapes are becoming a big problem. What would the state say or do if a life was seriously injured or killed due to the negligence of the jail?

If banks had armed guards, there wouldnt be chases of punk ass bank robbers. Forget prison, make this piece of trash get a job and pay taxes, that will be more of a punishment than prison.
