FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) — A high school cheerleader in Fort Smith is recovering after she was struck by a stray bullet that went through her bedroom window.

Fort Smith police say 17-year-old Ronniesha Forrest heard people arguing outside her window before she was hit by gunfire. Ronniesha's aunt, Lavonda Thompson, tells Fayetteville television station KHOG the bullet struck Ronniesha's neck. She says the injuries aren't considered life-threatening.

Thompson says doctors told her niece that they can't remove the bullet because it's wedged between two major arteries. The teen is a cheerleader at Northside High School, but Thompson says her niece won't be able to perform any jumps because of her injury.

Thompson says her niece has received a full academic scholarship to the University of Arkansas next fall.

Amazing how many people are not mature enough to settle a disagreement without violence. I agree with @dilligaf - too bad the shooters didn't have better aim. I doubt that society would loose much if those two were no longer around.

NOT LIFE THREATENING... SHE TOOK A BULLET IN THE NECK HELLO!! And now it's lodged between two artries she'll probably have to carry that the rest of her life just because careless and stupid people don't know how to settle their differences with out a gun. They should have to pay her the rest of her life because of the things she will miss out on now.

And yet the one doing the shooting will not have to pay for any of her medical bills. To bad the shooter(s) werent better shots, mahybe they would have hit each other instead of a innocent person.
