POPE COUNTY, AR – Two people are dead as the result of a crash early Thanksgiving morning. Investigators say the accident happened when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle the two were in and slammed into a tree.

The victims are identified as 34 year old James Killer of Atkins and 32 year old Nicole Tackett of Dover. Both were dead at the scene of the crash.

Arkansas State Police report the victims were in a 1998 Chevy pickup headed north in the 15000 block of Highway 27 in Pope County when their truck veered off the road striking a tree.
