Kali Hardig, Parasitic Meningitis Survivor, Leaves Children's Hospital

Benton girl goes home after nearly two months of treatment.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Kali Hardig, who is the third known person to survive Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM), has been released from Arkansas Children's Hospital.

The 12-year-old Benton girl had been receiving treatment there since July 19.

Before Kali left for home, she took part in a news conference, along with her family and the doctors involved in her treatment.

Kali contracted parasitic meningitis during a swimming trip to Little Rock's Willow Springs Water Park, which later closed down.

Coming up on Thursday in Benton, a parade will be held at 10:35 a.m. to celebrate Kali's homecoming.
