LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Friday marked the deadline for tenants to be out of the Stonecrest apartments in Little Rock.

Last week, the city deemed the complex a threat to the health, safety, and welfare of the inhabitants.  A judge ordered the empty apartments be boarded up until the owner brings it up to code.

Tenants say they've had to deal with maintenance and safety issues, and the owner has ignored their requests.

This order by the judge has left them scrambling.

"It's very frustrating, especially when you're working with a little bit of money. Nobody wants to accept you because you don't have everything, and they're not understanding our situation and it's not our fault," said Shonda Blackwell.

The owner can reopen the complex if inspectors see he has brought the building up to code.

Am I imagining things or do I see a black guy in that pic. You know damn well majority of the tenants were black if not all. What do Hud housing have to do with these apartments. And the statement about the trash being on the ground. Im not surprised being that the whole complex had to move out at the same time. Most with no place to go. Tell me who you know that would be worried about picking a piece of paper up when their kids dont have a warm place to sleep. You forget that this is the slum lord f up. If you can't afford to have a full time maintenance crew then you shouldn't have an apartment complex.

To the nurse: I'm sorry, did I mention race when I wrote about the apartments? I've visited people in HUD housing in Atlanta, San Antonio, El Paso, LR; and most that I visited were white. Delivered mail to HUD housing in Tucson; most residents were white or hispanic; not too many blacks in Tucson back in the '70's. Wife's ex relative is a crackhead, and she's as white as can be. Had/have a few cousins that were addicted to everything. Not trying to be racist here 501!

ArYankee I wonder what made you think that crackheads lived there and had to move. Because they were black? The slum lord probally set it on fire. He would be the only one to benefit from it(insurance money).

Hey Fox; ya'll taking the weekend off? Another station reported last night that there was a fire at this apartment complex. I don't know if it was accidental or some crackhead was mad because he/she had to move. Steel: If you are an officer of the law, how can you let names bother you? Part of getting on the PD in Tucson back in the '70's was going before a board, and being questioned, called names, cursed at and so on to see how you would react. As far as Nobama is concerned; most of us have had "pet" names for all presidents. So because he's black, we can't do this with him? If I called Bush, Clinton, and others names; shouldn't I be consistent? I don't care for the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and others. And I don't care for the socialist in office now; has nothing to do with his color. One more thing. "He did received my vote..." Perhaps you should proofread before calling others ignorant?

Graytonghost, I would be more than happy to go Washington! First order of business would be drug testing welfare recipients and Congress. Why pay congress when Obama sends out Presidential edicts. Cut of aid to foreign countries. Obama just sent 30 Million dollars to Kenya's Military! Look it up buddy!

New York, California, Washington, DC. has slum lords, wherever slums are there will be a lord. Maybe tennants need to come up to code or help bring it up to code the property like pick up after themselves instead of wanting everybody to do something for them. They are not only in the SOUTH! Like our current admin. in washington is wanting everybody to do.Help yourself first you will have more respect for what you got!
