LITTLE ROCK, AR - A Little Rock School District safety and security employee was arrested Monday at Henderson Middle School and charged with sexual assault.
The arrest stems from an April 2012 report where 43-year-old Miguel Cazares allegedly touched a girl known to him in his home. The police report says the incidents occurred from October of 2011 to March of 2012. The report intimates that Cazares and the juvenile were watching pornographic movies while the touching occurred.
Cazares is in the Pulaski Jail on $75,000 bond.
Letter from LRSD to parents
Yesterday, around 1 p.m. Miguel Cazares, a substitute security officer with the Little Rock School District working at Henderson Middle School, was arrested by the Little Rock Police Department based on a charge of second degree sexual assault involving a minor. This incident was not school-related.
Mr. Cazares was employed by LRSD on January 29, 2013 and went to work at Henderson on February 1, 2013 after working one day as a substitute security officer at J.A. Fair High School. He was arrested on campus and terminated. We have no reason to believe he was inappropriately involved with students on any of the campuses with which he was associated.
Mr. Cazares had undergone a background check with LRSD's criminal background check system, from which he was cleared to begin employment. State Police, FBI and Department of Human Services background checks were in process. Again, we stress that Mr. Cazares' arrest was not school-related.
The Little Rock School District is committed to the safety and security of all our students, parents and employees. LRSD and LRPD will conduct thorough investigations and keep you updated on the latest developments.
