Lofts at SOMA Revitalizing Community Through Improvements

New owners of a historic building in an up-and-coming section of down-town showed off their efforts in revitalization of the SOMA area.
Little Rock, AR - New owners of a historic building in an up-and-coming section of down-town showed off their efforts in revitalization of the SOMA area.

The Lofts at SOMA, short for South Main started their renovation when the new owners purchased the building March 1.

It has it's rich history. Originally built as Little Rock High in 1904, changed to East Side Junior High and then sat vacant for 30 years.

Most of the visitors to Sunday's (3/24) open house were people who already live in the growing area curious to see a major step in SOMA's revitalization.

"What I like is they are still keeping some of the old styles of the rooms, of the chalk boards or the black and white tile in the bathroom," explained Claudia Carberry. "A reminder of the  history of the building."

Many of the older elements of the school building have remained in the loft style apartments.
