Man Injured in Johnson County Explosion

The blast happened Tuesday morning. The victim, who suffered severe burns, was flown by helicopter to a Little Rock hospital.
JOHNSON COUNTY, AR - A man has been injured in an explosion at a black powder business in Johnson County.

It happened shortly before 8:30 this morning on County Road 3455.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) says its deputies, along with crews from the Rural Fire Department #1, Clarksville Fire Department and the Office of Emergency Services responded to the scene.

The business is identified as Black Powder, Inc.

According to its owner Jerry Dean, the injured man was the only person inside at the time of the blast.

The victim is reported to have suffered severe burns to his body and was flown by helicopter to a Little Rock hospital. His current condition isn't known.

The JCSO says the scene has been secured and investigators from the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Office in Little Rock are responding to the scene to assist in the investigation.
