LITTLE ROCK, AR - A man being booked into the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility had a seizure and died early Saturday morning.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says 39-year-old Michael Hammond was in a holding cell in the intake section of the PCRDF completing his book-in process when he began having seizures around 3am. He was taken to UAMS where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are investigating the death but the cause of the seizures is not known.

Hammond had been arrested for theft by receiving, fleeing, DWI and possession of a firearm.

Did I miss an article or something? Had he been proven guilty already in court? Or the court of public opinion?

He was a good person but he was in jail for DUI, theft by receiving and firearms charges. Which prison unit do they house the good people in? They dont lock up good people. I'm sorry he lost his life, but he wasnt there for singing to loud in church. If people want to complain about how people are treated in jail, then I would suggest you stay out of jail. Its as simple as that.

He was already proven guilty??? Was it worth death? There's some really sorry people out here with double-standards.Why didn't they take he man to the hospital asap? What a great bunch of people working there. What had it been you or one of your loved ones? This is absolutely despicable!!! Yes it could have been you as none are without sin. A tail light out and a cop in the mood to just mess with you because he can. Yes that happens alot. Where is the FEDERAL BUREAU of INTIMIDATION when you need them? It would take years to clean up the corruption in this state.

At least he won't steal again or drive drunk and kill someone on the road. I won't miss him.
