LITTLE ROCK, AR - We're heading straight into a peak summer driving season. And with gas prices well above $3 in Arkansas a bus company hopes direct service from Little Rock to Dallas will get people on board.
A company called Megabus wants to jump in and get you out of your car if you're willing to hop on a bus.
In its shiny promotional video, Megabus says its double-decker buses are ready to arrive in Little Rock with service to and from Dallas and Memphis.
"I like the concept, straight through is always better," says bus rider Dan Newsome.
Greyhound may seem like the obvious competition. But Megabus COO Dale Moser says 85% of its customers come from people who simply don't want to drive or deal with airports.
"It is not your grandfather's bus. It's totally different, it's new and innovative,” Moser says. “It's cutting edge, it has the most current safety and technology features on it."
The Megabus promises more leg room, free wi-fi high speed internet, and fares starting at just $1.
"I would try it, especially if its cheap,” Newsome says. “Worst thing that could happen is you have a bad experience, we've all done that before. Then you say never again."
hits Little Rock June 16th.
