Parolee Arrested after Using Stolen Checks at Local Business

BENTON, AR -- An active parolee out of the Arkansas Department of Community Correction is back behind bars on several charges after trying to use stolen checks at a local business.

According to the Benton Police Department (BPD), 37-year-old Misty Dempsey is charged with residential burglary, theft of property and two counts of forgery.

BPD says officers responded to a burglary call on Kyle Road, where the victim told police someone had broken into her place and stolen many of her things.

Investigation led detectives to Dempsey, who was arrested shortly before noon Thursday and taken to the Saline County Jail, where she remains on no bond, according to BPD.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation and more charges are possible in the future.
