Tough. If they dont want to be locked up, then they shouldnt be committing crimes. If they want to be around to go to funerals, stay out of jail. If they act crazy while in jail wanting out, make them suffer. I am so sick of Arkansas and their catering to the criminals. Furloughs and parole/probation should be abolished. Being good didnt get them locked up, so why should it get them out. Most of them get locked up and suddenly find God just to BS their way past the so called parole board, then they get out and forget who God is. To hell with them. Once youre in, your in until the sentence is completed. I liked arkyny's comment about the victims family not being able to see their dead loved ones when they want.

"Imagine you're locked up, you don't want to be there, you're facing a long sentence, and your mom is dying". Seems to me if you committed a crime to be put in prison, you wasn't worried about your family in the first place. This article wants to try and make people feel sorry for the thug life. Pure liberal thinking if you ask me.

In my humble opinion, if you take a gun and point it at another human being, If you put a knife in someones chest or if you in anyway murder another human being? You forfeit the right to any furloughs. If the prisoners want to whine about it tell them when their victim can go to their own mothers funeral, sit by their fathers death bed and watch him take his last breath or be their for the child they were expecting when they were murdered, then we will show the same compassion. I have no compassion for anyone that takes the life of a law abiding citizen, minding their own business, expecting to be able to kiss their children good night and because of the actions of a selfesh criminal will never have that pleasure.

In my humble opinion if you put a bullet to someone and shoot, if you take a knife and stab, if you in any way, shape or form murder another human being and are convicted of that murder you forfeit your right to any rights to a furlough. The person they killed cannot go to their mothers funeral, sit by their fathers death bed as they are taking their last breath or be present when their expectant wife delivers. In no shape is this right and if it was up to me I would never give them the right to witness any of these things until they could allow the person they murdered to witness the same things. NOT FAIR!!!

I forgot to add these comments. Imagine your locked up, for christs sakes, jerk killed somebody!! Does the family get to dig up the grave and see the deceased? Its the same principal, these people know that someday there is going to be an immediate death in the family, but they give up that right to go to the funeral. Maybe when you feel the drugs in your vein, then ,maybe someone will watch you die like you did to your victim, jerk!!
