Pro-Choice Supporters Call Out Lawmakers on Abortion

Passionate, pro-choice supporters make it loud and clear at the Capitol Saturday afternoon.

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Passionate, pro-choice supporters make it loud and clear at the Capitol Saturday afternoon. They called the law banning abortions at twelve weeks out of order and out of line.

"They don't have to go through the things women have to go through in pregnancy," Erin Jackson said.

This mother of five couldn't stay at home, as she joined others who called out lawmakers who voted for the 12-week abortion ban.  Among the sea of signs, you couldn't avoid the message or the mention of State Senator Jason Rapert (R-35), who drafted the bill.

"A lot of people obviously needed to let their voices be heard today. They're very angry with the Arkansas Legislature right now," Ali Taylor, one of the rally's organizers, said.

Members of Forty Days for Life call the law a milestone, a result of their prayers in encouraging women to choose life."It's really not about a woman's choice to do what she wants with her body.  We're concerned about the baby in her body," Mary Pate said.

But abortion advocates say the lawmakers -- made up of mostly men -- are trying to make decisions for women that should be left up to them.

"As many steps as Arkansas has taken forward, we've taken that many steps back," Jackson said.
