It was Random Act of Kindness Day for Pulaski Bank and to celebrate, associates showed up at gas stations in Bryant, North Little Rock, and Little Rock where they gave away free gas to more than 100 people.
Members of Pulaski Bank say they know how high gas prices are affecting people and they wanted to do something to really make a difference. So they spent the morning giving away free gas all over town.
The responses ran from excitement, "I'm thinking 'Wow! Great!' Thank you,” said one customer. To disbelief and suspicion. "What do I have to do for it?" To which the Pulaski Bank associate relied, "Absolutely nothing. It's a random act of kindness."
It even restored faith in mankind. "Showing people this day and age you can still see good in the world is amazing," said another customer.
A customer said, “Wow, I need it bad. I'm a struggling college student."
For Associate Professor Laura Terry, the $10.00 worth of gas will go a long way in helping others. She and her students are volunteering their time, effort, and money to build a picnic area for disabled children at Camp Aldersgate. "I have to raise money to do the projects. We're relying on money for materials so every little bit counts, every $10.00," says Terry.
Pulaski Bank hopes people to whom they've shown kindness will pass it along and show kindness to someone else. And, who knows, maybe bring them new banking customers.
Pulaski Bank bought gas for 150 people. If you haven't run into Pulaski Bank employees already, you're out of luck; the free gas give-a-way ended at 5 o'clock Tuesday but you never know what they'll be doing next.
