I agree with Yankee. Where is the gun he supposedly had? Why would the chief allow a untrained officer take her kid, or anyone else, on a ride along? Why was she not properly trained before hitting the streets alone? I bet the chief, if he keeps his job, thinks better next time when hiring an officer.

charge that lady with murder..Shooting someone in the back is not manslaughter. and an unarmed man at that.

Something does not add up here. There has never been any story concerning if a gun was found, and I wonder if it existed at all. The daughter says she saw this man point a gun at her mother but apparently that wasn't interesting/exciting enough to keep her from focusing on her phone. So she didn't actually see the shooting, because of her phone. That's your story? There are several far more plausible scenarios that come to mind, but this doesn't quite make the grade. Concealed weapon permits have requirements that have to be met before a citizen can legally carry a firearm, why are some LEOs not required to meet similar standards? Were there any applicants for this job who had completed the required courses? And if so, why was this person picked over them? There are too many inconsistencies regarding this story that have not been reported or apparently questioned.

So Pat72209 by him walking with a weapon and tossing it as he noticed the officer deserves him getting shot in the back. Let's not condone ignorance. The officer is not the judge and jury. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Bottom line: she was untrained and shouldn't being left alone patrolling any streets.

8yrs into my Law Enforcement career and I’m lost for words. I have been following this story since it happen back in September. On one hand, The Chief has over 20yrs of law enforcement experience and he made a rookie mistake by allowing her to go out on patrol without a supervisor present and to carry a gun without proper training. That showed because she shot him in the back. He should be held accountable to a point. Now the other hand, she should be held accountable for her reckless actions. She killed a man because she was scared. Think about it, why would you hold a loaded gun to a person back while you frisk them down for weapons? That don’t make any sense to me and yes gun training do get cover before you head to the Police Academy. Who knows why she did what she did and sad part about it somebody was killed because of lack of training. I know the Chief of the Alexander Police Dept is a great man but even he makes mistakes. The Alexander Police Dept cannot take any more lawsuits or news stories anymore. This will make the 2nd officer from that dept to go to jail.
