Stolen Lottery Tickets Leads To Arrest

Man charged with theft in case of stolen lottery tickets.
HOT SPRINGS,AR-Bradley Gene Grigg, 1014-B Garland Street, was arrested and charged with Lottery Fraud, a Class D Felony.

According to the report filed with the Hot Springs Police Department Jeff Name, manager of the Shell Station at 3201 Central Avenue, on 6/3/13 contacted Justin Webb of the Arkansas Lottery Commission, and reported that 21 assorted lottery tickets were stolen out of the lottery ticket display from his store.

Name also reported the theft to the Hot Springs Police Department. The face value of the lottery tickets totaled $180.

Name reported that the Arkansas Lottery Commission data base indicated that four (4) of the reported stolen tickets were cashed out at the CornerStore Valero, 2616 Albert Pike on 6/3/13 at approximately 9:32 am., in the amounts of $15, $10, $10, and $5 for a total of $40.

Keri Flores-Coronado, the manager of the Valero at 2616 Albert Pike, and an employee Tyrone Chapman, told investigators they were working on 6/3/13 when a person they knew to be “Brad” Grigg, a former employee and coworker, entered the store and handed Chapman four (4) winning lottery tickets to cash.

Both Chapman and Flores-Coronado reported hearing Grigg state “I think I won $30.”

Chapman replied “No, you won $40.” The security system at the store recorded the incident and clearly showed Grigg enter the store and cash the stolen lottery tickets.

Webb told the Hot Springs Police Department that the “AR Lottery Commission reimbursed the shell station $150, which was the face value of all the stolen tickets, minus the four (4) tickets that were cashed.

Further, $40 was reimbursed to the Cornerstore Valero for the money that was paid for the four (4) winning tickets. The total loss to the Shell Station is $30.

The total loss to the Ar. Lottery Commission is $190.”
