LITTLE ROCK, AR - The City of Little Rock has ordered that the Stonecrest Apartments at 9700 Baseline Road must be closed because they "constitute a threat to the health, safety and welfare of the tenants and the community at large."

The order, signed by District Court Judge Mark Leverett, says that all empty apartments must immediately be boarded up and tenants must be evacuated until the building is brought up to code.

The owner of the apartments can request a hearing to allow the apartments to be reopened if city inspectors determine that the all rooms and buildings have been brought up to code.

The place has been a slum for years, if you work for AHTHD you know where it is. Too much drug activity and other illegal activities going on over there and yet the only thing they've done is somewhat increased police presence while the apartments themselves continue to fall apart. It was only a matter of time.

I wonder if the tenant's being homeless also constitutes a threat to their health, safety and welfare? Wish there were more details on why it's being closed down...Slum lords should be thrown in jail...Arkansas needs more laws against slum lords.
