LITTLE ROCK, AR - Brian Floss, a former Fordyce teacher convicted of raping a student back in 2002, is eligible for parole, but the victim's family is asking the state parole board to deny his request.

"I plead with you today to give my daughter the next five years with peace of mind, knowing he is serving his full sentence," said Tammy Harper, the victim's mother.

Since 2005, Harper has made the annual trip to Little Rock to voice opposition to Floss' early release.  Floss is serving a fifteen year sentence after being convicted for sexual assault.  He went to prison in 2003.

In addition to submitting a list of signatures from other Dallas County residents who want Floss to remain in jail, Harper read the board a letter from her daughter.

"If he got out I would constantly worry and definitely not want to go anywhere by myself.  If Brian got out I would not feel safe not only for myself, but for my loved ones too," the victim wrote.

The parole board will publicize their decison on February 5.

Most crimes in Arkansas are automatic parole regardless of how the offender acted in prison. Rape is one of the few crimes where the parole board can deny parole. There are people who have been sentenced throughout their lives for multiple offenses totaling 40-50-60 years in prison and between concurrent sentencing and automatic parole these people go free after 2-3 years. If the general public understood this they would be outraged. A 20 year sentence in Arkansas means maybe 2-3 years in prison.

Leave him in there; put him in general population, maybe then the only way he'll get out is in a pine box. Problem solved.

wps hit the nail on the head. Obama and his mindless followers think that gun control will solve the worlds problems, yet they allow our justice system to let the child predators lurk about. That makes about as much sense as whiping your butt BEFORE you poop.

Give them more bed space to work with. Your doing a good job parole board. Keep it up. This only says he is eligible. I don't think he will make it. Wasn't there a state that never let these guys out. I keep thinking Kansas for some reason.

I bet if the public would start lynching the sickos when they're released from prison, the parole board would stop letting them out and they would receive life sentences. We know how prisons like to protect the child molesters and rapists..They get a nice little cell all to themselves with a bed, tv and 3 meals a day so they don't have to worry about bubba raping them. Should be an automatic death sentence and be shot in the head like the rabid dogs that they are. Govt wants to ban guns to "protect the children" but they won't keep a child rapist behind bars in order to protect the children.
