Assault? I agree with you guys, this was not assault at all. If consentual sex is assualt, I kind of get into that myself. Maybe that can be my new line - Honey, can assault each other tonight?

I agree with those that say the sentence for women should be the same as what men get. I also say that when a teacher uses her power of authority in these situations, the sentence should be more strict. I also agree that the boy involved here is not 100% innocent. He knew it was wrong for this to take place, yet he never told his parents after 13 times. His parents found out after his mother read some texts between the two of them on his phone. If the mother had not seen the texts, this would have happened a 14th, 15th, 16th time and so on. Sorry, but I do not see him as a "victim" in this case.

Oh come on!!!! Really? Assault? 13 times and he never told his parents. Interesting... I had a couple of teachers when I was in jr.high and high school that I only wished they would've made my dreams come true uh uhhh... assaulted me like that. All she really did was cut down on his hand painting some.

She should get the same punishment as a man would for this. There's no excuse for this kind of behavior. http://www.fugitivehunter.org/usmostwanted.html

GOwens: Remember the '60's and '70's - women wanting equal "rights"? I agree with you; the sentences should be the same for both sexes when it comes to crimes like this. But it usually doesn't happen that way. Same with divorce and custody cases; the "law" usually favors women. As for this being an "assault", I beg to differ. I turned 16 during my Junior year of high school. I had an English teacher fresh out of college, and she was hot to say the least. Much better looking than the teacher in this story. I imagine most of the young lads in her classes would have enjoyed being "assaulted" by her.

The sentencing for female sex offenders and male sex offenders needs to be the same. Unfortunately, female offenders receive much less harsh sentences than males even though it is the same offense. Also, I disagree with sin12, where he or she says there is a difference between assault with consent and assault without consent, it's an oxymoron. Police officers do not choose the wording for statutes, the legislature does.

I wish the PD would find better wording- assault it's not- improper, unforgiveable, corruptive, bad influence, life altering yes; but physical assault is without consent and with force- BIG DIFFERENCE and is an additional crime.
