LITTLE ROCK, AR - Stacy Stracener, who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old, has been sentenced to 6 years in prison.
She will have to serve more than 2 years before she's eligible for parole and will have to register as a sex offender.
Cabot Police say Stracener, 36, and the victim were family friends. The boy tells investigators he had 13 different encounters with the teacher.
Stracener has been ordered to have no contact with the victim and the victim's family and must register as a sex offender.
"There's a line you don't cross in relationships and we make sure our folks understand this," said Cabot Superintendent Tony Thurman.
Thurman said the district has discouraged teachers from accepting students on their Facebook pages in light of this situation. He said districts can only do so much; however, they will continue to conduct those extensive background checks.
"We're seeing more of this happening because of the social media aspect, the text messages, and the Facebook," Thurman said.
