Suspect killed by police
A deadly arson investigation led to a shootout between Garland County deputies and a suspect.  That suspect is dead and two deputies were injured.  Two other suspects are in jail, all accused of killing five people in Garland County.

Deputies aren't saying much because there is a gag order on the case. Late Friday afternoon, the sheriff's department told a room of reporters deputies won't answer any questions Friday or Saturday for the protection of everyone involved.

Jeremy Pickney and Samuel Conway, both 23-year-olds from Hot Springs, sit in jail without bond, charged with capital murder, aggravated residential burglary and arson. They're accused of killing 5 people on November 12th.

Thursday night, sheriff's deputies tracked down the men at National Park Inn in Hot Springs along with 22-year-old Marvin Stringer.  Deputies say Stringer started shooting at them.

"Officers returned fire. The suspect was fatally wounded and two of our officers were injured," Lieutenant James Martin with the Garland County Sheriff’s Department.

Garland County Deputy Jason Lawrence is in stable condition after getting shot. Felix Hunter had a medical emergency and is recovering at home now.

The investigation continues and deputies need you to come forward if you know anything.  "If the suspects talked to anyone about property that may have been taken during the crime, it is not over yet."

Gentry family reacts to arrests

The Gentry family is reacting to the deadly hotel gun fight. Karen Gentry’s 80-year-old father was killed.  "I wake up every morning and say was this real? Did this really happen?” Gentry said.

Karen Gentry and her husband Scott McNeely are still trying to come to terms with the murder of her 80-year-old father, a war hero Edward Gentry Senior.  His home was ransacked and his truck found burning 13 miles away.

The hotel shootout causes more pain.  "It was horrific, almost as bad as getting the initial news.  It's divesting to hear there were more casualties involved.  When does this start?"

On the same property someone shot and killed Karen's brother Ed Gentry Junior, his wife Pam their son Jeremy and his girlfriend Kristen Warneke and then set their mobile home on fire.  "In some cases the dental records were unusable because the beating was so severe.  There were no teeth to identify," Scott said.
