Officers responded to the Woodland Terrace Apartments at 1701 Skyline Drive and located a black female, later identified as Joy Owens, 24, bleeding and unresponsive on the living room floor. Owens was pronounced dead at the scene.

Russell was taken into custody and charged with First Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm by Certain Person, and Possession of a Defaced Firearm.
