LITTLE ROCK, AR – A Rison teen was killed and three others injured in a head-on crash on Highway 133 north of Rison Tuesday afternoon.

The Arkansas State Police report that Joshua Cook, 17, was driving a Honda Civic southbound on the highway, passing another car in a no-passing zone. Cook’s Civic crested a hill and hit a Plymouth Valiant heading northbound head-on.

17-year-old Logan Prescott, who was riding with Cook, was killed in the accident. Also riding with Cook and injured was Justin Ross, also 17-years-old. The Pine Bluff Commercial reports that all three teens went to Rison High School and were members of the football team.

The driver of the Plymouth is 63-year-old Lee Applegarth. According to the ASP accident report, none of the 4 involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.

Cook and Applegarth were taken to JRMC in Pine Bluff. Ross was airlifted to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

I will note judge any of these boys, unfortunately my nephew was one of the boy in the car and still has not regain consciousness, and he has no idea that one of his friends has passed and for the driver to know what he was resopnsable for, for the rest of his life, it will haunt him forever, I don't think you ever get passed something like this. All the familys including mine are very much in my prayers and I have reached out everyone I know and have multapule prayer chains going. At this time we should all have these family in out thought and prayer. There is no place for blame at this time. God bless all the familys, and friends may they all find peace..

I do not "pray" on this website. I pray in private. My prayers are for God only. I may mention that I pray, I may mention that I pray for all involved in this tragedy ( and have done so ), but, allow me to reiterate, I do not "pray" on websites. As for judging; I'm trying to make a point - teach your children well, for life is precious, and senseless loss such as this can be avoided. None live forever, at least not in this mortal shell; but no sense throwing it away either.

I don't have any accidents involving other people on my record either. I don't have any accidents not involving other people on my record too. And I do all them things and enjoy it. Yankee you sure that is praying or is it judging? let's ask the town of Rison.

Leatherneck; you are so right about everything you mentioned! laverdad; who's talking about muslims on this story? At least I've remembered everyone involved in this tragedy in my prayers, more than once; and all you have to say is something concerning my opinion of muslims? How about doing a little praying yourself for these families. Your self righteousness is showing, and it is nothing but fllthy rags.

"I don't judge; I leave the judging up to Him," says the guy who called all Muslims animals a couple of days ago on this very website.

TO ARKANSAS YANKEE, THE ONE THAT PASSED IS THE CHEIF OF POLICE SON. TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE TALKING BAD ABOUT THE DRIVER, WHY DONT YOU JUST KEEP IT TO YOUR SELF, THIS WAS A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT, IF YOU NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT IN SOME SORT OF WAY...YOUR AMAZING, AND SHOULD BE A MILLIONAIR. I KNOW SOME OF THE FAMLIY THAT WAS INVOLVED. YOU SHOULD ALL STOP AND PRAY FOR THE FAMLIES THAT ARE INVOLVED, NO MATTER WHO'S AT FAULT. MY HEART IS VERY HEAVY FOR ALL.MAY THE GOOD LORD BE WITH THEM.

I have been to and lived in many many places and this undoubtedly is the one state where drivers are the worst and think that they can drive the way they want too. Majority of them dont' know what the yield sign means, what the solid line at the top of an off ramp means or even what stops signs and speed limit signs are. They don't use turn signals when changing lanes or turning. For those of you with that dumb look on your face, that piece that is on the left side of the big piece that you sit behind when you carelessly aim the vehicle down the road, yes, that piece right there that goes up and down, that activates, (turns ) and (off) your turn signal, (AKA) blinker. Thas lets people know you are turning or changing lanes. Looking over your shoulder does not activate it or just because you are talking on your phone does not mean you do not have to use it. REMINDER. That is not a 5000 pound rolling phone booth. Just because you want to get over and I am there abiding by the traffic laws does not give you the right to have your phone in your left hand stuck to your ear, to take your right hand off of the steering wheel to raise it up in the air and look at me as if I am supposed to move just because you are stupid and on the phone. Now with all that said. LEARN HOW TO DRIVE PROPERLY AND THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN.I am 50 years old and the most defensive driver and past instructor there is. I have no accidents involving other vehicles on my record. This case is a multi lawsuit waiting to happen. Lawyers have already sent out cards and letters.

Lawyers are going to have a field day filing lawsuits for the passengers against the driver that tried to pass on the double yellow line. Then you have the injured driver in the other vehicle as well Apparently Rison High School doesn't have too good of a Driver's Ed

I don't think I was judging anyone. I was talking about the senseless loss of life; the consequences of not obeying traffic laws, and teaching your children how to drive responsibly. I'll leave the judging up to Him. It is indeed sad that someone lost a child in this "accident". And they are in my prayers, as are all the rest involved in this tragedy, including their families. Believe me, I know how they feel, for I have lost loved ones in "accidents". I have lost a family member and a close friend; both were involved in accidents that involved drinking, drugs, and speeding; albeit one was not the driver. I guess I'm trying to point out that these things can be prevented; please, teach your children how to be responsible on the roads; and seat belts won't always save someone, but AR had three deaths ( was it last weekend? ) and if I remember correctly, the story said none were wearng seat belts. I will pray for everyone involved; may the family of the young man that lost his life find comfort in our Lord and Savior.

Just so you all know the Chief of Police son was the one in the back seat and he died. It is a terrible loss for us all. This is not the time to be judging who is right or wrong in this case. Let us remember these young men and pray for all involved.
