Food stamp recipients are 37.2 percent Black and 46.2 percent White. While taking a Speech class at PTC in 02' I did some research for a speech. Used Federal stats from the PTC library. My speech was on welfare. It's been awhile, but basically this is what I found out. ( These figures are plus or minus a few percentage points of course, this being so long ago ). What I found out. About 70 percent of the US population was white, with whites accounting for about 30 percent of the people on welfare, food stamps, HUD, etc. Minorities on the other hand, made up the other 30 percent of the US population; yet they made up the other 70 percent of people on some form of welfare. These figures were from Federal Government figures. Like the author I mentioned in the previous post; either some people do not understand statistics ( and math! ), or they are purposely being deceptive.

Don't know where you got your "facts". My source? The US Dept. of Health and Human Services, the US Dept of Commerce, and the CATO Insitute. Date verified - 10-15-2012. Welfare Demographics ( including welfare, medicaid, food stamps, and federal and state housing benefits ). Percent of recipients who are white - 38.8 percent. Percent of recipients who are black - 39.8 percent. That being said, another forum poster put this in perspective; "Overall, there is a much greater percentage of Blacks on welfare, compared to Whites, FACTORING IN EACH RACE'S TOTAL REPRESENTATION OF THE POPULATION." The author goes on - "...was trying to accomplish...to get some of these posters to stop parroting the same old squawk: "More whites are on welfare".
