UPDATE: Two LR Men Charged in Mall Shooting

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) has released the names of two victims, one of whom was killed, in a robbery-turned-shooting Thursday night at Park Plaza Mall.

Police say employee Christian Hayes, 25, died after being taken to the hospital. The other victim, Jashonta Thomas, 18, was in critical condition at last report. [Note: Police had incorrectly identified the restaurant manager as the victim who died but sent a corrected report].

Earlier this morning, the LRPD released the names of two men jailed for the crimes.

Tristan Bryant, 20, and Deonte Edison, 18, both of Little Rock, are both charged with capital murder and criminal attempt to commit capital murder.

The incident happened just after 9:30 at the Sbarro Pizza in the mall's food court. Police say Edison is believed to have worked at the business before but it wasn't known if he was still employed there.

Police say the suspects got into a hallway used by employees behind the restaurant. According to its website, the mall closes at 9:00 p.m. Police say an unknown amount of cash was taken in the robbery.

Shortly after the shooting, police received information about possible suspects at a house on Bishop Street. That's where Bryant and Edison were arrested and taken downtown to the police station for questioning before they were charged in the case.
