Update: LRPD Identifies Suspect in Officer-Involved Shooting

The suspect was taken to UAMS, where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Little Rock Police Department (LRPD) is investigating an officer-involved shooting.

According to an LRPD incident report, officers responded to reports of a man, later identified as 21-year-old Zachary Loring, loitering in an alleyway in the 3700 block of West 16th Street shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday.

When police arrived, Loring took off running toward the 3800 block of West 15th Street, where he turned and pointed a gun at Officer Williams, who drew his weapon and fired, hitting the suspect at least once in the right hand, according to the report.

The suspect was taken to UAMS, where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The department placed the officer, identified so far only as Officer Williams, on administrative leave during the investigation.
