Update: Standoff Suspect Surrenders in Springdale

Man had barricaded himself inside van in store parking lot on Robinson Avenue Wednesday morning.
Update (9:35 a.m.):
SPRINGDALE, AR - A man is in custody after a morning standoff in the parking lot of a Springdale grocery store.

The S.W.A.T. team, along with Springdale police and fire crews set up a staging area at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Robinson Avenue at around 8:00 this morning.

Initial police reports from the scene said the suspect was barricaded inside the store but it was later learned he was inside a van outside.

He surrendered a short time later.

Update (9:20 a.m.):

SPRINGDALE, AR - New information from the scene of a standoff in Springdale reveals an armed man is barricaded inside a van in a store parking lot.

Springdale police and fire crews were called to the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Robinson Avenue this morning scene after a report of shots fired.

Initial police reports said the suspect was inside the store.

Police reported at 9:15 this morning that the man was in the process of surrendering.

SPRINGDALE, AR - Springdale police and fire crews are on the scene after a report of shots fired and a man barricaded inside of a Walmart Neighborhood Market.

The store is located on Robinson Avenue.

KNWA, FOX 16's sister station in Fayetteville has a crew on the way to the scene.
