Arkansas Marines Train African Soldiers

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Members of a Marine Reserve Unit in Arkansas, taking their training and skills to West Africa.

Nearly 200 of the India Company Marines were asked to head over to Senegal for nearly a month.

Their mission is to teach African soldiers the basics in peacekeeping operations.

The Arkansas Marines said they were excited to share with other nations training and skill techniques to enhance their forces.

"IED defeat, how to detect IED's, improvised explosive devices, how to counter those, as well as internally displaced persons, how to set it up, set up security, how to hold a defensive stronghold in the area and worked on marksmanship," says Staff Sergeant Justin Parker.

Parker says the African soldiers were extremely welcoming with a lot of respect.
