Lake Forest, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Bears have placed tight end Zach Miller on injured reserve after he hurt his left foot during Thursday's preseason game against Jacksonville.
Miller sustained the injury during the second quarter of Chicago's 20-19 win over Jacksonville and did not return to the contest.
The fifth-year pro had been battling to be the Bears' No. 2 tight end behind starter Martellus Bennett and had a strong performance in the team's preseason opener, catching six passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns against Philadelphia on Aug. 8.
Miller previously played for the Jaguars from 2009-11, compiling 45 receptions for 470 yards and four touchdowns over 33 overall games.
