Bella Vista Animal Shelter Offers Reward to Find Abuser in Dog Death Case

BELLA VISTA, AR (KNWA) - The Bella Vista Animal Shelter is asking for help to find who's responsible for the abuse of a dog that led to its death last week.

According to the shelter's Facebook page, they've raised $500 in donated money and are offering it up for reward leading to the arrest and conviction in the case of a Lab/Spaniel mix that was found severely injured on March 6.

The shelter says the dog was recovered near Highway 279 with a large chain wrapped around his neck, covered in blood and road rash. Shelter officials believe the dog had been choked. They say he was also very thin and had old scarring.

The shelter tried to save the dog, but he died of his injuries a day later.

Now police and animal control are working to get leads.

They are asking anyone with information to call (479) 855-6020 or the Animal control officer Amber Bowman with the Bella Vista Police Dept. at (479) 855-3771. Tips can be made anonymously.
