BENTON, AR - A local woman has been arrested after police say her car went off a city street, hit a home and then she drove away.

It happened around midnight on Sunday along Village Drive.

The Benton Police Department says patrol officers were called to the scene on a report of a vehicle driving through the residence.

Investigators determined that the vehicle hit a van parked in the driveway before continuing across the yard where it struck the home's support beams and one outside wall before leaving the scene.

Benton firefighters were called in to help with debris removal and getting the home's occupants out safely. Police say no one was injured.

Police later found the suspected driver by following the trail of debris.

Kay Staggs, 44, was arrested at an address on Hester Drive. Police say she told officers that she blacked out and didn’t remember the accident, claiming that it could have to do with a medical condition for which she takes a prescription.

Skaggs is charged with Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
