Bryant School District To Begin Search For New Superintendent

BRYANT, AR -- The Bryant School Board met tonight and after talking behind closed doors for two hours, the board president announced they will be looking for a new superintendent.

The board unanimously accepted a separation agreement between the district and former superintendent, Randy Rutherford.

After the announcement, we asked board members if they could talk about what happened, and they would not comment citing it as a personnel issue.

However, this evening we did request, through the Freedom of Information Act, any and all documents and correspondence relating to the separation agreement.

So hopefully, we'll find out what led up to this decision.

The board voted to put Rutherford on paid suspension last month.

They would not give any answers then as to why, and still today, we're not being told what led up to the decision.

According to a news release, Dr. Fred Dawson will remain as interim superintendent, "with the board's full confidence in his ability to lead the district during this transition."

Rutherford was with the Bryant School District since 2010.

The news release also stated a search for a new superintendent will begin right away.
