Clark County Half-Cent Tax Vote Passes

Voters in Clark County approved a half-cent sales tax by a count of 1,206 to 520.

With the passing vote, the county can collect the tax to fund the Economic Development Corporation, with a projected annual revenue of$1.25 million. The largest portion of that money is reserved to offer incentives for prospective industry. The tax initiative began in 2007 with 68 percent voting in favor of the tax.

Proponents of the tax say it'll help create jobs and stimulate the economy.

Had it failed, the EDCCC would have continued to operate until the funds it currently had were depleted.
