SALINE COUNTY, AR - Police in Saline County have arrested a Northwest Arkansas man wanted for allegedly murdering his grandmother.
Michael Eugene Conklin, 26, was wanted on a First Degree Murder charge. A spokesperson for the Saline County Sheriff's Office said Michael was spotted by someone who had seen coverage of the search.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Further details of the arrest have not been released.
Michael will be returned to Bentonville Friday night.-Original-BENTONVILLE, AR (KNWA) - Police are searching for a man wanted for murdering his grandmother.
A warrant has been issued for Michael Eugene Conklin, 26, for the offense of Murder in the First Degree. On Sunday, the Bentonville Police Department began an investigation into the suspicious death of Nelma Darline Conklin, 76.
Police received a call of about a welfare concern at her home on SW Elm Manor Drive. The caller said the woman had not been to work for about one week. When officers went to check on her, they found Conklin dead inside the house. Preliminary findings by the Arkansas State Crime Lab autopsy ruled the death a homicide.
Police say Conklin’s grandson lived in the home with her. Michael Conklin (see attached photos) is described as 5’ 09” tall, 185 pounds, with short brown hair and hazel eyes. He sometimes wears glasses and has earrings.
Nelma Conklin’s car, a silver 2013 Ford Focus with Arkansas license plate 583OCT, is also missing.
