Man Dies after Son Shoots Him, Deputy Wounded in Washington County Incident
Central EMS takes shooting suspect Sam Hill to Washington Regional Medical Center.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, AR (KNWA) - The Washington County Sheriff's Office confirms one person is dead and one of its deputies suffered a gunshot wound in a Wednesday night incident.
According to a news release, deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 12000 block of S. Whitehouse Rd. at 9:30 p.m.
The caller said her son, Sam Hill, 26, had just shot her husband in the chest. Police say, when deputies arrived, someone started shooting at them, hitting Deputy Corp. Taylor Reed in the arm. Deputies returned fire.
It was later determined that Hill left the scene before deputies arrived and his mother, Roberta Hill, 55, mistakenly thought her son was returning and started shooting, hitting the deputy.
Officials say, deputies also found Allen Hill, 61, the suspect’s father, inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds. Allen Hill was airlifted to Washington Regional Medical Center (WRMC), where he died. Corporal Reed was treated at the same hospital. His wound is not life threatening, the release said.
Later that evening, the Fayetteville Police Department received a report of a domestic disturbance involving Sam Hill. The victim in that incident gave Fayetteville Police officers the suspect’s residence location on Morningside Dr. in Fayetteville. When officers arrived, they found Hill at his home with a gunshot wound to his hip. After being arrested, Hill was taken to WRMC for treatment. Charges are pending, and police say the investigation is continuing.
