Jacqueline Johnson says she has not spoken to her son Steven Swanigan, 30, since April 27.
"I have not heard anything from Steven," Johnson says. "What I know is what I've seen on the news or heard from the internet. I have no information of what happened or where he is, I've not heard from him at all."
Garland County detectives say Swanigan showed up at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Springhill Road just outside Hot Springs on April 30 and started firing.
Mayela Mata, 26, was shot and died at a hospital.
Another man was shot and was treated and released.
A 20-month old child was also shot. The toddler was airlifted to a Little Rock hospital, according to Lt. Corky Martin with the Garland County Sheriff's Department.
On Monday, Swanigan's mother Jacqueline Johnson pleaded for her son to surrender himself to authorities.
"My appeal to him is wherever he is, please turn himself in so we can find out exactly what happened in this tragedy."
Swanigan was last seen fleeing the Economy Inn on East Oak Street in Conway early Saturday morning.
"He's got such a big heart I can't see him doing something of this magnitude, that's not his characteristic," Johnson says. "That's not him."
Swanigan served ten years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections on an aggravated robbery conviction. He was paroled in October 2012.
