LITTLE ROCK, AR - Police are investigating a weekend robbery/assault that caused a major damage to a woman's eye after being punched in the face.
It happened early Sunday morning on the parking lot of West End, a bar located along N. Shackleford Rd. The victim worked there, according to police.
The police report states that the 32-year-old victim was found shortly before 2 a.m. lying on the parking lot when officers arrived. After she was treated at the Baptist ER, doctors told of the severity of her eye injury.
The report noted that while she was barely able to talk, the victim told officers she thought her attacker used his fist to hit her. The report also noted a large amount of blood at the scene.
The victim's roommate, who also worked at West End, according to the report, told police two men were involved and that they stole her cell phone. She told police the man attacked after asking the women if they needed a ride home and they told the suspects no.
Lieutenant Sidney Allen from the Little Rock Police Department said, "It appears that he did hit her with his bare fist."
"The guys were pretty persistent in what they were going to do."
Lt. Allen said the investigation will continue, but there is surveillance video of the crime and police hope to use that video to make an arrest soon.
According to Baptist Hospital the victim was released late Monday afternoon.
