Daytona Diary for Tuesday, February 18, 2014
By JOHN KUCKO | email@example.com
Monday was a memorable day at Daytona. And while the drivers may have been off the track, that wasn’t the case for everyone. The Richard Petty Driving School has a setup here and I was able to ride in a Generation Five car for three laps. It was the ride of a lifetime. We topped off at 180 MPH and I was wearing my famed Google Glasses for the ride. You can see the incredible raw footage through the eyes of Glass right here on the Big Race page under Google Gass Video of the Day. The banking on the track, 31 degrees, is unreal and I cannot iagine what it is like with 42 other cars veering down on you. It was the thrill of a lifetime and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Weather concern: The weather was perfect Monday and should be very nice thru Wednesday. Forecasters here are calling for the chance of storms Thursday and Friday with Friday’s activity potentially severe. There IS a chance for rain for race weekend, but only spotty showers on Sunday,
The horses: The Budweiser Clydesdales are here. I took footage with Google Glass of their morning stroll yesterday. What disciplined, mild mannered horse. They are every bit as impressive as those famous Budweiser Super Bowl commercials. Really cool to see them up close.
