Faulkner Co. Deputy Fired after Sexual Assault Allegation by Girl, 14
Keith D. Rick, 24.
CONWAY, AR - A deputy with the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) has been fired after being accused of the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
The FCSO says Keith D. Rick, 24, was relieved of duty after being questioned in the investigation that got under way Sunday night.
That's when the alleged victim's mother filed a report with the Conway Police Department.
The FCSO says that after the report was filed and statements taken, its investigators went to Rick's home to place him on administrative leave, pending the Conway PD’s criminal investigation. This was to inform him that he had no law enforcement authority, and to retrieve his patrol car and all county issued equipment.
During this process, the FCSO says undisclosed statements made by Rick that are now part of the criminal investigation led to the termination of his employment.
Rick had been with the FCSO since June 2008. He started as a detention officer and was later transferred to the prisoner transport division in August 2010, where his title became deputy sheriff. In March of 2013 he was transferred to the patrol division, where he was assigned until his termination.
The FCSO says the victim in the case was an acquaintance of Rick's and that the former deputy wasn't on duty or in his official capacity whatsoever when the alleged incident took place.
