LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Little Rock Police Department has held its first-ever memorial service for a fallen K-9 officer.

A morning ceremony at the Centre at University Park paid tribute to "Chewy" and also honored the K-9 squad on which he served.

The 6-year veteran of the force and partner of Officer Annette Harrington died in mid-March.

Sgt. Andre Dyer, who heads the LRPD K-9 Squad led the service, which included a reading from a K-9 Prayer. One of the prayer's lines reads: "Together you and I shall experience a bond only others like us will understand."

Chewy was 8 years old.
