LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The mother of a Little Rock elementary student is demanding revamped security measures after her child wandered away from school and into a neighborhood.
The five-year-old girl left Geyer Springs Elementary School last week.
According to the Little Rock police report, the girl said she was locked out of her classroom.
She left and walked to a neighborhood next to the school. Some neighbors spotted the girl, took her in, and then called police.
Those neighbors are glad they were home.
"It's too much that goes on with little children and you know how it is when you have those alerts that come out. You worry about your own," said Lou Bullock.
District spokeswoman Pamela Smith called the incident regrettable and wants to assure parents that appropriate disciplinary measure were taken.
