LONOKE COUNTY, AR - A former detention officer at the Lonoke County Jail has been arrested after being accused of giving a cell phone to an inmate.
The Lonoke County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) says it learned about the situation on the evening of Aug. 31.
Soon after, the phone was found and confiscated.
On Sept. 2, an arrest warrant was issued for Alissa Kay York, 29, who was arrested the same day.
York is charged with Furnishing, possessing prohibited items and Impairing operation of a vital public facility.
The LCSO says its initial investigation revealed York had entered into a relationship with an inmate while employed at the Sheriff’s Office. When the relationship was discovered the prior week, York quit her job.
