LITTLE ROCK, AR - The I-30 corridor in Central Arkansas could be getting a major facelift.
Plans for the roadway include improvements from Interstate 40 in North Little Rock to I-530 in the Capital City.
The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) hosted two meetings this week giving the public a chance to give input on improvements and changes needed to one of the busiest stretches of road in the state.
“The planning process will continue through at least until next summer. We hope to have a contractor or a consultant on board in 2017 and begin construction in 2017 or 2018 time frame,” says Randy Ort of the AHTD.
The project will be largely funding by a half-cent sales tax increase approved by voters in 2012. The highway department says more public meetings are likely as the project details continue to come out.
